In 2017, during my college life as a Business Studies student at Dhamrai Government College, I had the honor of participating in the observance of International Mother Language Day (21st February)—a day deeply rooted in our national identity and linguistic heritage.
Early in the morning, along with our respected teachers and fellow classmates, we took part in a commemorative rally that began from Dhamrai Government College, passed through Dhamrai Bazar, and concluded at the Shaheed Minar located on the college campus. The program culminated with the offering of floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our mother language.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, we observed a moment of reflection through prayers seeking forgiveness for the language martyrs, followed by an exchange of thoughts and discussions highlighting the significance of the Language Movement and its impact on our cultural and national consciousness.
This experience not only strengthened my respect for the sacrifices behind our linguistic freedom but also reinforced the values of collective participation, discipline, and cultural responsibility—values that continue to influence my personal and professional journey.
