A Day of Compassion: Eid-ul-Azha 2023 Qurbani & Meat Distribution Program

Children’s Heaven Jamalpur — Eid-ul-Azha 2023

Eid-ul-Azha is a sacred time of sacrifice, gratitude, and community celebration across Bangladesh. In 2023, Children’s Heaven Jamalpur took this spirit even further by bringing the community together in an extraordinary act of compassion and service.

Preparing for Eid

With the essential funding provided by Children’s Heaven, our team organized a special Qurbani initiative a day before Eid-ul-Azha, purchasing four sacrificial goats from the local market in Jamalpur. The objective was simple yet profound: to ensure that every child under the care of our organisation — and their families — could feel the joy, dignity, and shared celebration of Eid.

The Qurbani Process

Under the respectful supervision and leadership of our President, Md. Obaidur Rahman Chand, the Qurbani was personally carried out. I was honored to actively participate in this experience — from the first time handling the preparation of meat after Qurbani, to organizing the distribution.

The process was not without its intensity. It was physically demanding, emotionally grounding, and spiritually rewarding. With support from our teachers, volunteers, and members of the community, we:

Oversaw the Qurbani process
Prepared and cleaned the meat
Sorted and organized portions

Every step was done with the intention of service and dignity.

Distribution to Families

On the day of Eid, we packed the meat into ready-to-serve portions and personally delivered them to the children and their families. The joy we witnessed was overwhelming. Families expressed heartfelt gratitude, and many offered their prayers — a touching reminder of why we do what we do.

“This was my first hands-on experience in preparing and distributing Qurbani meat for those in need,” I reflected later. “The children and their families were not just recipients — they were part of our celebration, our community, and our shared sense of belonging.”
